Can't We All Just Get Along???

Reading about the transformation in the community relationships with the disciples after Peter's first evangelistic message in Acts 2 is sooo amazing! Have you ever looked at the beauty of these relationships and said to yourself, "Self, that's just not a reality in my life!" Hiccups in family, professional, social relationships and even our church communities can be very challenging. Whew! What we see in scripture doesn't reflect in our everyday lives. What's missing? What is the element that we see in Acts 2:42-47? It is the power of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, our Paraclete, the promise from the Father. Being empowered by the Holy Spirit isn't just for signs and wonders, it's necessary in our relationships. We can't love one another the way Jesus described without it. We can't do it in of ourselves. We'll always fall short of His grace when we emulate Jesus from a place other than the Holy Spirit. Relationships can be ...

Overindulgence vs Temperance

Psalm 103:5 says,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

When I read this scripture two years ago, I had an impression in my heart with the revelation that Jesus gives me good things to EAT and SPEAK so that I am satisfied and healed!  I use my mouth to speak and eat so, therefore, my BODY can be restored and preserved while experiencing the abundant life.  He changes my taste buds to eat the things that bring healing instead of destruction (Ps 107:20).  He gives me His Word to speak concerning all matters pertaining to my life (2 Pet 1:3) so that His life will spring up, resurrect in me.  When I cooperate with Holy Spirit, what I speak and put in my body allows me to experience the abundant life Jesus died for! Hallelujah!

Making wise choices to preserve our life and health can be difficult for some of us!  I'm raising my hand because I have that struggle.  The food choices we make every day can have debilitating effects that gradually attack the body's systems to deteriorate over the course of time.  What some of us think at that moment of food intake is what we are craving NOW, what we can put in our mouths NOW, and satisfaction is guaranteed...NOW!  We don't consider the long term effects of our choices because the voice of reason in our minds is muuuuch louder.  We may even reason in our minds about how we can work those pounds off at the gym, drink lots of water to flush it out of our system, tell ourselves it's only this one time, convince ourselves that we deserve this treat as a reward, and the list of reasoning to put that object of craving into our mouths goes on and on and on.

Whatever we crave in excess, and subsequently come into agreement with, steals from our inheritance of abundant life. Whatever we crave in excess says something has a hold of us alot more than God does.  We can’t confess the Word of God and counteract with an opposite action at the same time and expect to see a change. This is the warring in our flesh! Let’s cooperate with the Holy Spirit and believe for optimal health in every area by decreeing over ourselves that abundant life in our bodies WILL manifest--because we are speaking and eating those things from the heart of Jesus. We are imitating what we see our Father doing (John 5:19).  We can see it manifest through lower blood pressure, weight loss, renewed strength, recreative miracles, mental health balance, change in food choices to the degree that we no longer crave those things that will do us harm.

When we prepare and bless our food for consumption, we should expect the blessing of God upon it for the nourishment of our bodies. There is a connection between God's healing properties and what we put in our bodies. So, if we align ourselves to healthy choices for our bodies, we can believe God for optimal health and heal whatever is in conflict with His Word. Do you see the conundrum we find ourselves in when we are blessing the very thing that causes havoc, sickness and disease in our bodies? It lends itself to double-mindedness. We are saying one thing, but doing something else that fights against the divine health that is promised to us from God (2 Cor 1:20).

Let’s make choices that give us the experience of the new creation life God has ALWAYS intended for us. Jesus cares about what we put in our bodies! Let us pray,
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray to yield my body to You in all decisions pertaining to optimal health.  I repent and depart from overindulgence.  Overwhelm me with your grace and mercy so that I make food choices and habits on a daily basis that are not in conflict with Your desire to preserve my body.  Thank you for bringing godly wisdom and knowledge into all my decisions. I decree that I will win the battle over my flesh exercising the fruit of temperance.  I acknowledge You in all my ways, making wise decisions that will bring excellence into my life. I take dominion over every influence that would cause me to operate outside of Your gift of the abundant life!
To some, it may be an experience of immediate change, and for others, it is a process over time and walking it out. Either way, the inner working power of the Holy Spirit has manifested!  Overindulgence is crushed by the power of the fruit of temperance!  Hallelujah!

Our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. We can be good stewards of our bodies by pursuing a healthy lifestyle.
