Can't We All Just Get Along???

Reading about the transformation in the community relationships with the disciples after Peter's first evangelistic message in Acts 2 is sooo amazing! Have you ever looked at the beauty of these relationships and said to yourself, "Self, that's just not a reality in my life!" Hiccups in family, professional, social relationships and even our church communities can be very challenging. Whew! What we see in scripture doesn't reflect in our everyday lives. What's missing? What is the element that we see in Acts 2:42-47? It is the power of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, our Paraclete, the promise from the Father. Being empowered by the Holy Spirit isn't just for signs and wonders, it's necessary in our relationships. We can't love one another the way Jesus described without it. We can't do it in of ourselves. We'll always fall short of His grace when we emulate Jesus from a place other than the Holy Spirit. Relationships can be ...

TRUST & OBEY

God prophesied to Jeremiah to buy land in Jer 32:6-7. Listen to this! When God instructed Jeremiah to do this, he was in prison at the time by order of King Zedekiah. This investment wasn’t based on research and data. It was based on the Word and strategy of God in a time of war, stress, financial deficit and pending another wave of exile for the King and people.

Jeremiah obeyed God even when it didn’t look like the right time to be investing in property. God had already prophesied destruction for Judah, so why would he purchase property that will ultimately be destroyed? People were being exiled from Judah and the land had been stripped of its former glory. In the natural, it did not seem like a viable move. Don’t worry, this post isn’t about real estate, and I’m not a realtor! It’s about hearing the voice of God and obeying instructions! We do this by faith, expecting God’s outcome.

We may be in a situation where it doesn’t make sense to move forward. Our present looks an absolute mess. Why would I move forward with this kind of deficit around me? Trust the Lord with a sure word of prophecy.

God can prophesy to us about us in preparation for our future prosperity. That’s exactly what He did with Jeremiah. After God spoke to Jeremiah about purchasing the field, He sent the confirming word by his cousin, Hanamel son of Shallum his uncle (Jer 32:8). This was Jeremiah's inheritance by birthright.

Notice Jeremiah followed instructions and prayed over the Word and for understanding. God is a God of the past, present and future—He is Alpha and Omega. He has a plan to prosper us and not to harm, to give us a hope and future (Jer 29:11). It’s our inheritance since we are citizens of heaven (Phil 3:20).

TRUST and OBEY the Lord when He shares instructions to move in or implement something. It is the road map for Kingdom wealth and the abundant life. God was seeing into the future when the land would once again bear fruit (Jer 32:15). Follow the Word!
